THE Ed Vaughan team celebrated their first double of the year when both Lady’s Art and Dance And Dance were among the winners at Kempton yesterday evening.
Dance And Dance (11/1) took the feature 7f handicap in the hands of 7lbs claimer, Martin Lane. Lane was able to make use of a favourable high draw and settled the son of Royal Applause just off the leaders. Despite having to wait for a gap at the quarter-mile mark, he quickened up impressively when in the clear and powered to a length and three quarters success. His win completed a double for the Vaughan stable following Lady’s Art’s win in the mile Classified Stakes earlier on the card. The daughter of Verglas, a 4/1 chance, was held up by Kieren Fallon before making steady headway on the outside to join the leaders around the final bend. She stayed on well under Fallon’s urging to score by a length and a half. Audemar also ran another respectable race to finish third in the 1m handicap in what was a good day’s work for the in-form stable. |
